Serving our community cats in Rochester, NY

Make a real difference in a cat’s life.

Partnerships and Grants

Adopting is one of the best things you can do.

When you adopt, you’re not just giving a deserving cat a home. You’re also giving us back space and resources for the next cat that needs help.

All of our cats and kittens posted for adoption have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas and parasites, combo tested for FeLV/FIV, microchipped, and any known health or behavioral conditions fully disclosed.

Meet Our Adoptable Cats!

  • Tippy and Bibi

Tippy and Bibi are at the Pawsitive Cafe. They are a bonded. They may be shy as new additions.

  • Ichi

Ichi, Ni, and San are sisters who found themselves outdoors after being kicked out or left behind. Working with our friends at the 19th Ward Community cats, we were able to bring these girls back indoors to seek their new homes. So far they are fairly bonded, but we hope to see them make friends with other cats at the Pawsitive Café, where you can meet them. Currently Ichi has a pink collar, Ni has purple, and San has yellow.

Ichi also has a small stripe on her nose and is very affectionate once she warms up to you.

  • Ni

Ichi, Ni, and San are sisters who found themselves outdoors after being kicked out or left behind. Working with our friends at the 19th Ward Community cats, we were able to bring these girls back indoors to seek their new homes. So far they are fairly bonded, but we hope to see them make friends with other cats at the Pawsitive Café, where you can meet them. Currently Ichi has a pink collar, Ni has purple, and San has yellow.

Ni can be fairly bold and attention seeking once she knows you a little bit.

  • San

Ichi, Ni, and San are sisters who found themselves outdoors after being kicked out or left behind. Working with our friends at the 19th Ward Community cats, we were able to bring these girls back indoors to seek their new homes. So far they are fairly bonded, but we hope to see them make friends with other cats at the Pawsitive Café, where you can meet them. Currently Ichi has a pink collar, Ni has purple, and San has yellow.

San is the smallest sister and the shyest but she is also quite curious and likes to explore.

  • Aurora

Aurora is a petite, beautiful dilute calico. Most of her kittens have been adopted and Aurora still waits for a home of her own.

Aurora is currently at the Pawsitive Cafe. She has been hiding away but is slowly exploring the space of the cafe. While she was in a foster room at our main foster house. Aurora was often happy to sit quietly in a cat tower while her kittens got attention from visitors - she would however approach people she was comfortable with for petting and attention.

Aurora seeks a quieter home, where she can relax after raising kittens outside, and making several adjustments to different living situations. She can live with other cats - as always, a slow introduction makes for the greatest long term success.

  • Edgar

As of end of March, Edgar has had further dental work done to remove his remaining teeth. He was losing weight and showing discomfort. He will be back at the Pawsitive Cafe soon.

Edgar, is a calm, sweet, but playful boy whom someone had previously neutered through a TNR program, hence his ear tipping. He's up-to-date on shots and tested negative for FeLV/FIV. Due to stomatitis, he has had all of his teeth removed but still enjoys food, including kibble.

  • Sean

Sean's story began with a determined attempt to follow us home in a busy urban area, hinting at a possible past of abandonment despite the TNR ear tip. Sean, approximately six years old, was also diagnosed with feline leukemia (FeLV), emphasizing the need for a suitable environment. Despite his unique left pupil, Sean remains lively and his vision is largely unaffected.

Unfortunately a retest has confirmed he still carries FeLV, and now FIV has been confirmed as well. With two immuno-compromising conditions, Sean really needs special people to take good care of him. He is asymptomatic so far, and appears to be a big healthy boy. We would of course have a full conversation with his forever family about what his conditions could mean.

    A short video of Sean!

Wish Our Recently Adopted Cats Good Luck!

  • Phil Collins

Phil Collins was adopted along with Mimi, who became quite attached to him while they were sharing a room.

  • Mimi

While we are the tiniest bit disappointed Mimi never got to join her identical sisters Ichi, Ni and San at the cafe and cause more confusion, we never expected how hard she would bond to Phil, and so we are thrilled they were adopted together.

  • Olive

Olive was adopted by a cafe visitor and is happy to be a solo cat.

Olive was in heat when she found herself on the streets in January

She has been spayed and received all of her necessary vaccines and so she is now at the Pawsitive Cafe. It took her about 10 minutes to settle in and act like she owns the place.

  • Little Man

Little Man had a great time at the cafe, though he played a bit rough with other cats. He’s been adopted to be a solo boy.

  • Skye

Skye was adopted by cafe visitors, we hope she likes her new cat brother!

  • Soot and Smudge

Soot and Smudge were adopted together, by frequent visitors to the Pawsitive Café, who visited them multiple times while going through our application process.

  • Gigi

Gigi gets to live her dream of being the solo cat, adopted by a family that met he at the cafe!

  • Mortimer

Mortimer was adopted by a lovely family after a short but fun filled stay at the Pawsitive Cafe.

Mortimer was throwing his weight around at a feral colony, bullying his way into more food to support his big frame. Now that he is neutered and indoors with regular access to food, he happily seeks human affection and largely leaves other cats alone.

  • Daisy

Pretty little Daisy attracted a lot of attention at the cafe for a shy girl and is now home!

  • Callie

After a few months at the cafe, Callie has found her home!

She is a very affectionate, young petite grey tortie who had been outside at a feral colony for several months. She quickly acclimated to her foster room with Cookie and Frosted and was then joined by Abraham as well, then quickly acclimated to the cafe.

  • Frosted Flakes

Frosted was adopted with his dear sister Cookie!

Meet Frosted Flakes, a shy but incredibly sweet cat. He warms up slowly but is endlessly affectionate once he does, often giving "headbumps" to those he forms bonds with. He was rescued from the streets with his mother, Mama Millie, when he was a bit older, showcasing his stunning golden eyes.

  • Cookie Crisp

Cookie was adopted with her brother Frosted!

Meet Cookie Crisp, a spirited feline who has transformed from her bold beginnings into an affectionate darling. She started fearlessly, hissing with adorable fierceness, but has since become gentle and loving, leaning in for affectionate pets.

Cookie Crisp's journey began on the streets, rescued with her friendly mother when a bit older, and her desire for human companionship has grown. She dreams of a forever home with her brother, Frosted Flakes, or in a cat-friendly household where she can seamlessly bring her unique sweetness.

  • Roseanne

Roseanne really worked up the people interested in adopting her and is happy to have her own home. Her sister GIgi is actually being more social at the cafe now with “pretty Rosie” not being around to steal attention as much!

  • Benny

Benny was adopted after having a great time at the cafe.

Since joining the cafe crew, Benny bats around toys and runs around like a kitten; this 6 year old shows no signs of slowing down.

  • Jasmine

The last kitten from the litter to find her forever home, we had to go through many applications to find the right home where she wouldn’t be a single kitten. During this process she entertained many people at the Pawsitive Cafe.

  • Simba & Kuzco

Orange brothers adopted after a brief stay at the Pawsitive Cafe!

  • Tiana & Rapunzel

    Kitten sisters adopted together!

  • August

August met her new family at the Pawsitive Cafe!

August is estimated at 6 year old, and is living her second chance at life.

She was discovered critically ill, wasting away from a uterine infection that had been festering inside her. Residents spotted her walking around and then laying inside a box spring next to an apartment dumpster. She was likely abandoned when her family moved, cat hair also adorned an abandoned couch. Her backside caked in blood, urine and feces, her frame was thin but her belly unnaturally bloated. She was so dehydrated her scruff stayed in place when tugged on.

After an emergency spay to remove the diseased organ, she remained on subcutaneous fluid therapy to continue combating her dehydration. After a few days she took another downward turn. Her gums white, hair falling out, appetite nonexistent. However she still loved attention and catnip. Her bloodwork showed pancytopenia, all of her blood cell types were critically low. One more chance was made on an aggressive schedule of antibiotics and fluid therapy was continued. Much to the surprise of the vets treating her and advising us, August has made a full recovery. Her latest bloodwork shows levels indistinguishable from a typical cat. What we once thought might be a hospice case is now a playful, vocal lady with a filled in figure and a shiny soft coat. Her green eyes shine, no longer sunken in her little face.

  • Ginger

After having Ginger living amongst our own cats or over a year since she was a kitten, Ginger is the last foster fail for the president and vice president for a long, long time.

  • Priscilla

We have given in, Priscilla might be the only thing spreading harmony and joy among our own house cats and the other few free-range fosters. She is now family/staff. She’s a little dopamine machine and she’s made so much progress from a year ago when she was practically feral; we are afraid she is the jenga block on the bottom of the tower and dare not move her.

Priscilla is coming up due for her yearly vaccinations end of December but we'd be happy to make arrangements if the right adopter comes along before that. She's secretly one of our favorites, coming an awful long way from a semi feral. She breaks up fights between cats twice her size, she just drops in and her presence puts an end to any playing she decided was "too much." She makes adorable chirping noises and stands on her hind legs for attention. She deserves people of her own. She's befriended our crankiest cats. Even Ladybug, whom we quietly foster failed on years ago because we just couldn't find a good fit for her... particular personality, has bowed her head and asked Priscilla for head kisses.

  • Toby

Toby was adopted along with another cat from the Pawsitive Cafe!

Meet Toby, a captivating Lynx Point Siamese with mesmerizing light blue eyes. Toby's journey took an unexpected turn with a faint positive ELISA test for FeLV, but advanced and subsequent tests were negative, and so his system has overcome the virus and he is FeLV negative.

Toby seeks human companions who share his love for fun and can set boundaries with gentle guidance.

Cats in Care/Not Adoptable Yet

  • Franky

Franky is a secret favorite of ours. Het gets shaky and nervous when faced with a new person, but once he realizes he is safe he is the sweetest boy. He’s very tolerant of other cats.

  • Mitzy

Found on the streets of the 19th ward, no collar, unspayed and in heat, pursued by male cats.

  • Indigo

Indigo is fully vetted but we are working on confidence and trust.

  • Gia

Gia is a petite young cat rescued from the streets of Rochester. She is sweet and affectionate with people, and tolerant of other cats so far, but we think she would love to be a spoiled solo princess. She gets her booster shot April 10th and then will be ready for adoption.

  • Buzz

Buzz is a very affectionate cat rescued from the streets. He will need an exceptional adopter to take care of him, as he has FIV. FIV is an immune-compromising condition that is only spread to other cats by deep bite wounds, the kind usually associated with males fighting over females and territory. Currently we are working on seeing how Buzz reacts to other cats with slow introduction in a controlled environment, and he is also waiting for a booster shot.

  • Roxy

Roxy is slowly preparing to be ready for adoption, she has had two positive heartworm tests, which in cats, is not very treatable. Currently she appears healthy but we want to set her up for success before finding her the right family.

  • Hunter

Hunter was trapped in a basement, it appears she climbed in from a hole created by a groundhog, seeking shelter. She appears to be an older spayed female. Her clouded eye will be examined by a vet soon.

  • Topaz

Topaz was looking for food in a trash can and quickly went into a humane trap when he saw the food on offer.

  • Leonard
